Hummingbirds: A Celebration from Nature to Canvas

Join us in celebrating the smallest of birds with a day-long series of events focused on hummingbirds!

Audubon Society Presentation on Hummingbirds
9am-10am
$10 + 25% off; free for Audubon Society members*

Start the day with a presentation by Karl Brummert, the Executive Director of the Audubon Society of Greater Denver, followed by spring bellinis.

Nest of Your Heart Workshop
1pm-2:30pm
$20 + 25% off*

Bird nests are such an intriguing object. The random and natural—and sometimes not so natural—materials that birds collect to form their temporary homes differ by species and region. Quite often a nest will include mud, which dries and makes a kind of “bird adobe.” This creates a firm and stable environment to raise those chicks.

Many people love the form, but if you find a nest on the ground and bring it inside to appreciate its beauty, you are usually left with continually shedding dirt and debris.

Join artist Elaine St. Louis in this creative workshop and make a realistic-looking nest for indoor display that will allow you to express your personality through various materials and help to tell your story. We’ll even have some little eggs to complete the project!

Artist Vernissage
3pm-6pm
Free and open to the public

End your afternoon with a vernissage of Elaine's spectacular paintings of large-scale bird nests. Working as art director and photo stylist for home interior and gardening magazines for most of her career, she developed a strong appreciation for architecture and design. When looking at the nests of songbirds, she sees architecture and design in its purest form, which follows their simple function.

By layering polymer glazes creating a chiaroscuro effect, Elaine interprets the ephemeral nests in giant scale, giving the viewer a bold perspective with which to connect with the delicacy of their construction.

*25% off with ticket purchase for Audubon presentation, nest workshop, or both. Discount applies to full priced items only. Valid in store only. Does not apply to special orders. Valid 4/14/18 only.

Breathing Rooms

"Breathing rooms" are about finding balance in your hectic life and giving yourself the luxury of a true break from the world, if only for a few minutes a day. These rooms are flexible concepts, easy to incorporate into your home or office, and can have immediate and long-lasting effects on your mental wellbeing and physical health.

This event brings together the expertise of four women who will present different aspects of the creation of a physical space in order to give yourself mental space. Annie Huston of Birdsall & Co. will offer an overview of the concept of breathing rooms with an emphasis on the role of plants in bringing balance and health into our homes. Carrie Moore of The Peace Cellar will speak about the use of crystals and the creation of sacred space. Erica Erickson of Erica's Boutique and Skincare will give practical pointers on how to pull a breathing room together, incorporating aromatherapy, skin care refreshment, and special little treats. Sarah Henry of Sarah Henry Holistic Wellness Coaching will go in-depth about the health benefits of deep breathing, mindfulness, and self-compassion.

Spend an evening getting inspired, enjoy wine and hors d'oeuvres, and leave with a little bag of goodies to get started! Your ticket price is redeemable towards purchases at any of the participating businesses.
